Whether you want to become a paid or unpaid nurse practitioner preceptor, the choice is yours!
The process to become a PreceptorLink®️
preceptor is very simple:
  1. Create a username and password.
  2. Select "I am a Preceptor."
  3. Complete the "Wizard" on app. Describe yourself, your site, requirements, upload documents... If you need to finish your profile later, log back into the app; click your profile in the right upper corner, and continue the Wizard. Make sure you note your availability (the dates you are and are not available for a student) and your honorarium requirement (or select "no honorarium").
  4. Make sure to mark our emails "not spam"!
I've created my profile, what's next?
  1. Now you wait for a student to submit a request to your blinded profile.  Your information is private until you accept the student. You can also send students directly to our site to do a rotation with you.
  2. You'll receive an email when a student requests you. You can also log in at any time to check notifications and review your rotations.
  3. Review the student's profile and accept (or decline). If you accept, both the student and preceptor will be able to to see contact info and site details. PreceptorLink® will assist with the paperwork or anything else as needed. Our seasoned team is always available! Use the chat or email us directly through the app.
  4. Connect with your student to set up the rotation details.
  5. Affiliation agreements are completed between the student's university and your clinical site.
  6. Once the student starts, we pay the honorarium.
Easy peasy! That's it! We've simplified and improved the process!
What makes PreceptorLink® different?
Why Precept An NP Student?
  • We need well-prepared NP clinicians!
  • If your office is considering hiring an NP, it can be a great way to "test the waters" relatively risk free and you can get an honorarium for doing it!
  • Sharing your knowledge and experience through teaching can be very rewarding.
  • Precepting can help you stay up-to-date on clinical information and resources.
  • NP students can assist in patient education development.
  • NP students can help document patient histories.
  • Patients often love working with students because they can take more time with them.
  • Patients are often impressed that the site is a "teaching facility."
  • Nursing schools often provide incentives to precepting including: Access to school resources (Sports, theater, Up-To-Date, Epocrates...), adjunct faculty status, access to CE, opportunities to to take courses, and more. Ask us about preceptor incentives!
  • You may be able to earn accreditation credit for precepting.
  • It feels good to give back!  After all, someone precepted you!
Help educate the next generation of NPs!
We value your privacy,
and we promise to be respectful to you and your staff.
